The “Voice of the Child” Report

Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child states that a child must be heard in legal proceedings that concern him or her (Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989). The Voice of the Child report was established to allow children to express, if they so wish, their wishes, needs, and preferences in the context of child protection, custody, and access (Brideau and Bacon-Dussault, 2017; Government of New Brunswick, 2016). The focus is always on the best interests of the child.
